Who is the best manager...Men or Women?

Hello friends,

Close your eyes and start imagine a manager. What do you see? A young man of 30’s and wearing a blazer and perhaps spectacles, having a briefcase in his hand. Right?

In simple words manager is a person who manages well, be it human resources or natural resources, even a unsolvable problem! Let’s start from home. Don’t you agree with me that Moms are the best managers?

Whether a home-maker of an affluent family or a home-maker of very down-to-earth family, she manages the house with whatever is in her hand, without complaining. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, she is the chairman and MD (if i am not wrong) of Biocon and she is a successful manager. Another e.g. is Naina Lal Kidwai, she is the deputy CEO of HSBC and she is also a successful manager. Recently appointed CEO of Pepsi co – Mrs. Indra Nooyi is also a good example because Pepsi is one of the most wealthy and reputed companies. It is said that men brains are about 10% larger than female brains. But women have more nerve cells in certain areas, that makes women faster at transferring data between the computational, verbal, left half and the intuitive, visual right half.

RESULT : Women are more flexible and find it easier to do multi tasks. Men are usually left-brain oriented that often makes them better at solving abstract equations and problems.

So, both are better managers.

I am always fascinated at studies about the differences between men and women’s brains.
Indra Nooyi was an excellent example in there too. Last June’s Business Week article examines her approach with PepsiCo in a really interesting way http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/07_24/b4038067.htm
