All of us would love our skin to glow and look naturally beautiful. But since not all of us are blessed with flawless skin, the best option is to try sheer makeup. Strikes a familiar chord? You must have heard about this kind of make up but not really tried to find what it is all about. Sheer make up is basically natural make up that gives the skin a clean natural look, without making the make-up look obvious. Also known as Sheer Cover Mineral make up, this kind of make-up basically dismisses the use of chemicals and synthetic products and instead uses natural minerals for make-up. It may be also called ‘organic make-up’.

How to Apply Sheer Make-up

You need appropriate brushes and accessories like sponge or tissues. The face should be cleansed and moisturized before applying sheer mineral make-up. You need to have a good quality mineral foundation and concealer for doing the make-up. If you are doing this for the first time and are not very sure about how to apply, go to a beautician and learn the techniques.

  • Take some concealer and apply it in the form of small spots in areas like under-eyes, blemishes, forehead, around the lips, etc. Blend this nicely to even out your skin tone and fade out the dark spots on your skin.
  • Now take the mineral foundation on the tip of your fingers and apply it in the form of small spots over your entire face and neck. Gently blend it with your fingers to even it out and give your skin a glowing look. If the foundation is too thick, take some on a flat plate, add a few drops of water and apply with a sponge.
  • In case you want to apply foundation that is in the form of a powder, take some in a soft foundation brush. Remember, even a bit of foundation is enough to give your skin the glow it needs, so don’t take generous amounts of foundation.
  • Take a bit of foundation on the tip of the brush and tap off the rest. Don’t fling the brush in mid air to take off excess powder; instead, tap the brush on the table backwards. The bristles should be facing the top and the stick of the brush should be tapped.
  • Lightly brush your face with it and if there is excess powder, dust it off with a tissue paper.

Shiny Hair

Fine Hair : for fine hair look for a shampoo with wheat proteins and polymers. These ingredients coat the hair shaft making it look thicker. Use spray volumizers. These are light enough and will deposit a light mist of shine in the form of droplets without wilting your hair.

Normal Hair : for normal hair use a shampoo that has silk amino acids, this softens and repairs hair structure. Lecithin restores hair texture. To add shine you can use gels and creams. First apply the product on your palm, rub your hands together and pat gently on to your hair.

Thick and Coarse Hair: Use pomades they will not only make your hair shiny but will moisturize your hair as well.

Tips For Shiny Hair

  • Use heat-activated shampoo
  • Deep condition at least weekly
  • Don’t use a lot of styling products as they can dull the hair by coating it.
  • Use Strawberry hair mask: mash eight strawberries with one-tablespoon mayonnaise. Massage this into washed but damp hair. Cover it with a shower cap and then a warm towel. Wash out with a shampoo and then condition. This mask will give your hair a rich gloss.
  • Increase the shine in your hair by giving your hair a cool blast of air to seal the cuticle after it is completely dry. If the cuticles are ragged then your hair will not shine.
  • For blonde hair use a few tablespoons of lemon juice to your rinse water. This will make your hair shiny.
  • For brown and red hair add a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your rinse water.
  • For shiny hair you can also mix one teaspoon of honey into 4 cups of warm water. After shampooing, pour the mixture through your hair, but do not rinse. Dry as normal.

perfume selectionA good perfume or cologne could prove to be an expensive affair for many people. However, it can give the best value for money rather than fragrances like deodorants, body sprays and colognes. How to choose fragrances is a question which many people are perplexed about. You can choose a perfume which has the capacity of staying for a longer period of time. Just a whiff of perfume is sufficient to keep you smelling great for many hours.

Perfumes act well and give you enough relief when you are crammed in a crowded bus. If you want to hike your appeal to impress a guy or a gal, you can do a little bit of investigation before you go for the perfect fragrance. You need to find out his or her favorite fragrance and dab some of that perfume. If you can feel some chemistry simmering, you can noticed in a jiffy of time. Here are some tips on how to carry perfume or cologne in style:

Perfume etiquette

It is not apt to drench in perfume just because you enjoy the fragrance. If you do apply too much of perfume on your body, your humongous cloud of vapor will follow you wherever you go and it can leave people choking on the smell for hours after you leave the place.

Here are some tips how to choose fragrances:

  • Choose your perfume depending on the occasion you want to use it for.
  • A party, a meeting with couple of people, a day at the office, a corporate event demands a little sophistication and hence you can choose to go with a mild scent that does not jerk an unsuspecting nostril.
  • If you want to make a splash at a wedding or a party, go in for stronger perfume, but don’t go for anything that is too loud.

Applying perfume

  • The fragrance will sustain for a longer period and you will not soil your clothes.
  • Do not rub your wrists together after spraying on perfume as this tends to reduce the effect of the top layer of perfume.
  • If you like to be flamboyant you can splash some perfume into the air and walk through it and get soaked in perfume!
  • You should keep the spray away from your nostrils. Otherwise you might end up inhaling the chemicals. This could cause breathing trouble.
  • How much perfume should you apply? One round of application to all the mentioned pulse points will do. If you tend to perspire a lot, you could go in for round two of application.
