Rhinestone jewelry

  • Do not just jumble your rhinestone jewelry together in a jewelry box. The pieces will rub against one another causing scratches in the metal, scratches in the rhinestones, and even causing the stones to drop out. It is best to store your jewelry in the box in which it came.
  • If storing a pin and earring set in the same box, then fasten the pin and earrings to the cotton insert to eliminate the possibility of them rubbing together.
  • Never expose your rhinestone jewelry to high humid environment! or the metal part of your rhinestone jewelry will become dull and yellowish or worst scenario is- it will turn rusty !
  • If you want to keep your rhinestone jewelry in wooden materials like drawers etc ,take note of materials like Oak, it has certain chemicals that react adversely with the metals in costume jewelry.
  • Always put on your rhinestone jewelry mains before leaving the house. Never have your jewelry on while applying cosmetics, perfume, and hair spray etc,
  • Rhinestone Jewellry is very sensitive to costume accessories, sprays. Special care should be taken to maintain the same
  • Never wear your jewelry against skin with perfume or perfumed lotions. The metal will react to the chemicals causing it to tarnish. Always clean your rhinestone jewelry after every use.

jewelery careYour passion for jewels is portrayed in not only acquiring the best and beautiful ones but also in taking care of them. Maintaining your jewels will help in retaining the beauty and quality of them for ages. Here are a few tips to maintain your jewels.

  • Choose a spacious container or a jewel case that has a lot of compartments to store your jewels than storing them all together to avoid scratches.
  • The jewel case should preferably have its compartments made in a soft fabric like velvet, satin or silk to retain the novel look of the jewels as wells as to avoid scratches.
  • See to it that you fasten the clasps and hooks of the necklaces and chains so that they do not get entangled
  • For storing pearls, use velvet or a cotton cloth and avoid plastic or other material lest they will dry them out.
  • Never use a tissue to store your jewellery as you may mistake it for trash.
  • Avoid storing jewels in a freezer as gemstones can get discoloured.
  • Store gemstones and pearls separately from other gold, silver or platinum jewellery.
  • Store gems of different materials in different containers.
  • Do not pull at gemstones and pearls while removing as they are prone to loosen with time and may fall off
  • Change the thread of your pearl necklace or string with a jeweler once in a few years
  • Avoid wearing jewels while engaging in house work, sports or gardening as jewels are sensitive to chemicals and objects that they come into contact
  • Clean your jewels periodically and do not allow dirt to get accumulated.
  • Special jewel baths may not be good for cleaning gems like porous gems (pearls, turquoise, opal, lapis etc) as they may ruin them
